Science 7

Science 7 is an introductory science course at the junior high school level including Science Processes, Life Science, Earth Science, and Chemistry. Science 7 is a laboratory class emphasizing fundamental skills of learning, process skills of science, and the uses of mathematical and graphing skills in the analysis of data. Science 7 may include dissection.



Science 8

Science 8 builds on concepts and topics introduced in Science 7 and includes Science Processes, Life Science, Earth Science, and Chemistry. Social Studies 7

World Geography is the study of physical, economic, and cultural features of people, place, and environment. Utilizing the tools of geography, students will acquire essential geographic knowledge and concepts while developing thinking and information acquisition skills which will cultivate a local-to-global perspective.



Social Studies 8

A study of the local, state, and national government, basic economics, and U.S. History from English colonization to Reconstruction.

Art 7
1 semester .5 credit

Art History is a one-semester course in the history of art (primarily western art). The course is designed to increase the student©s knowledge of art, artists, schools and movements; chronological periods and specific dates; and the subjects, styles and techniques of particular works of art.



Money Management
1 semester .5 credit

Students will explore the role of business in our economic society. They will also learn how to manage their money (budgeting, checking, saving, and investing), research career opportunities, and learn job skills (applying, interviewing and work ethics) necessary to achieve future personal and financial success.



Computer Foundations
1 semester .5 credit

Students will learn computer applications and concepts as they develop keyboarding/numeric keypad skills. Topics include effective use of an operating system, using multiple input devices, formatting Microsoft Word Documents, and an introduction to voice recognition software.



Computer Applications
1 semester .5 credit

This is a hands-on course in which students will learn several computer programs using Microsoft Office. Word processing (Word), spreadsheets and charts (Excel), Internet research skills, graphics, and presentations (PowerPoint) will be learned. Students will continue to develop inputting skills (keyboard, voice, 10-key).



Beginning Guitar
1 semester .5 credit

This is a classical guitar course designed to introduce the student to the technique and music of the guitar as a solo instrument. Designed for the absolute beginner. Note reading, rhythms, and basic skills are the goals. Individual and group study, with public performance possible.



Intermediate Guitar
1 semester .5 credit

Recommended as a continuation of Beginning Guitar. The course continues to emphasize classical technique, more advanced rhythms, and note reading. Students must be able to read tablature in order to enroll.



Skills for Teens
Difficulty: Average 1-2 Sem.–.5-1 credit

Helps students become more self-confident and to communicate better at home and school. Includes an individualized approach to study skills, goal setting and decision-making strategies for successful and healthy living.
