Privacy and Security
In order to maintain student records necessary for course delivery and grade assignments, we need to store and use information that you have provided. Other records including attendance, grades, and student/teacher dialog are stored on our server so that we may complete daily tasks. In addition, user authentication records are stored. Please be aware that educational records are confidential. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of educational records.
Without your consent, we will only provide access to educational records to:
- a student or the student's parent/guardian
- to school officials or representatives with a legitimate educational interest
- or other disclosures as authorized by FERPA and district policy
To ensure confidentiality, we have implemented the following safeguards:
- All educational records transmitted over the Internet are encrypted using the 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This protocol encrypts or "scrambles" data sent between two points, protecting the information from unauthorized viewing. An exception to this policy is the transmission of email, which is not encrypted.
- A user ID and valid password are required to access grades and other educational records.
- Access to files and records containing educational records will be restricted to authorized viewers only.
